Welcome!

Marksburg Castle opens daily throughout the year.
The castle only can be visited in the course of a guided tour taking about 50 minutes. Visitors will be shown round by guides who recount the history of the fortress and describe what life was like in such castles during the Middle Ages. Foreign groups can have a guided tour in English, French or Japanese (see below).
Individual foreign visitors can follow the regular guided tour with an information sheet in their own language.
Periodical English guided tours for individual visitors start every day at 12 and 4 o’clock (only in summer season).
(Please note that this schedule is subject to change on short notice).

For an English guided tour off that times of day you should call our visitor service: +49-2627-206, possibly you can join a group of English speaking people.

Catering
You can take snacks, cold drinks, coffee, tea, ice cream, cakes, soups, sausages and stew at our "Burgschänke" (Castle Inn). To sit on the restaurant terrace, with its magnificent views of the Rhine Valley, is an experience to remember!

We can offer catering from light snacks to a complete meal. After consultation with our publican there is the opportunity to have parties, festivities and knight's banquets either in the romantic inn's hall or in the historic castle kitchen, prepared in the traditional fashion and served by staff in medieval costume, while minstrels or a bard is brightening the party.
